The story of Hashim Coates begins with the advances of the internet where Coates discovered an easy avenue to indulge his nefarious, deviant, cruel and violent desires. He meticulously scoured online prostitution and human trafficking sites, specifically Backpages.com, seeking vulnerable young men who offered escort services. Using multiple fake online personas, he would engage their services, only to reveal his true intentions once the deed was done: a steadfast refusal to pay. His victims, marginalized and without recourse or advocacy, could do little but leave in despair feeling used and abused then discarded like human trash by Coates.

Coates‘ reign of violent sexual exploitation continued unchecked for years, his confidence bolstered by each successful encounter. His actions, though criminally and morally reprehensible, had not resulted in criminal charges. That was until a fateful day in beautiful District 5, Colorado that marked a turning point in his sordid sexual deviancy.
On this day, Coates encountered an escort unlike any other. This young man, driven by desperate circumstances, had left his family, including a young child, waiting in a nearby vehicle while he attended to what he thought would be a routine sexual exchange for money. When Coates revealed his intention to not pay, after the deed was done, a heated argument ensued. Coates threatened political persecution and violence if the escort refused to leave without payment even brandishing a knife and firearm. The violent threats from Coates escalated quickly, and for the first time, Coates faced someone who demanded payment, damn the violent threats.
In a fit of rage, Coates chased the escort as he was fleeing scared for his life to his vehicle. There, in a shocking display of ATTEMPTED MURDER, Coates began recklessly shooting at the car, endangering not just the escort but his innocent family inside. The deafening sound of gunfire shattered the stillness of Aurora, Colorado, drawing immediate attention from frightened bystanders who could have been caught in the crosshairs of Coates‘ reckless disregard for human life. Within moments, the police were on the scene.
Charged with the illegal discharge of a firearm, solicitation of a prostitute, and a litany of other offenses, Coates‘ facade of respectability started to crumble. The subsequent investigation unearthed the depth of his decade-long sadistic violent sexual deviancy exploitation. Victims, previously silent, came forward, their stories painting a picture of a man who thrived on manipulation, violence, deception and control.
However, the story doesn’t end with Coates arrest. As the legal proceedings unfolded, a complex web of political manipulation, deceit and corruption was revealed. Connections to high-profile individuals and evidence of his attempts to influence the prosecution -forcing the matter to be assigned to a Special Prosecutor, added layers of intrigue to the case.
Coates‘ criminal case shines light on the dark corners of politics where exploitation and corruption are prevalent but often remain hidden. Coates and his political allies past and present, did everything they could in an attempt to cover up these events.
